Forging Workshop

Titanium forging is the process of deforming titanium ingots under high temperature using mechanical force to achieve desired shapes and improved material properties. It plays a critical role in titanium processing, significantly enhancing microstructure and mechanical performance while allowing precise dimensional control. It is widely used in aerospace, medical, and chemical industries.

Forging Process Flow
1. Ingot Preparation
Select VAR-remelted titanium ingots; cut off the head and tail, and inspect internal quality.

2. Heating
Heat the ingot in a furnace to 800–980 ℃ to ensure good forgeability.

3. Initial Forging (Breakdown)
Deform the ingot using a hydraulic press or power hammer to break the cast structure and refine grain structure.

4. Final Forging (Shaping)
Further forge the billet into required shapes and sizes, such as disks, rings, bars, or slabs.

5. Post-Forging Heat Treatment
Anneal to relieve internal stresses and homogenize the microstructure.

6. Machining & Inspection
Perform rough machining and quality checks, including dimensional inspection, mechanical testing, and ultrasonic flaw detection.
