Product Description

Titanium coil tube is a seamless or welded titanium tube that is bent into spiral or helical form for compact installation and improved thermal efficiency. Known for excellent corrosion resistance, high strength-to-weight ratio, and outstanding heat transfer capability, it is widely used in heat exchangers, condensers, chillers, and other thermal equipment.

Titanium Coil Tube Detailed Production Process

Raw Material Selection & Inspection

Select high quality titanium billets or mother pipes (Grades: Gr.1, Gr.2, Gr.5, TA1, TA2).

Perform PMI (Positive Material Identification) to confirm the correct alloy.

Check chemical composition and surface quality.

Piercing & Extrusion (for seamless tube)

Billet is heated and pierced to form a hollow tube.

Through hot extrusion or cold pilgering, the tube is drawn down to the desired diameter and wall thickness.

Surface is descaled after each process.

Cold Rolling / Drawing

Multi-pass cold drawing/rolling is applied to achieve accurate dimensions and surface finish.

Intermediate annealing is done to maintain ductility and eliminate work hardening.

Solution Annealing / Stress Relieving

Heat treatment in controlled atmosphere or vacuum furnace to relieve internal stress and restore mechanical properties.

Temperature typically ranges from 650°C–800°C depending on the grade.

Coiling / Spiral Winding

Tubes are coiled into spiral form using precise mandrels or bending machines.

Coil diameter, pitch, and leg lengths are controlled per customer drawing.

For tight radius coils (≤1.5×OD), custom tooling and close tolerance control are required.

Surface Treatment

Pickling in acid solution to remove surface oxide.

Water rinsing and drying to ensure clean, metallic surface.

Optional: Polishing or passivation.

Testing & Quality Inspection

PMI (Positive Material Identification) with handheld spectrometer.

Hydrostatic Test: Up to 600 Bar with demineralized water.

Air Leak Test: Using compressed air under water to check for microleaks.

NDT: Eddy current or ultrasonic testing to check wall integrity.

Dimensional Check: OD, wall thickness, coil pitch, total length.

Visual Inspection: Surface finish, ends, weld-free condition (if seamless).

Optional: Dye penetrant test, tensile test, flattening, flaring, grain size analysis.

End Treatment & Cleaning

Tube ends are cut square, deburred, and protected with soft plastic caps.

Compressed air cleaning is done after final hydro-test to remove water.
