Grade 2

Grade 2 titanium is one of the most commonly used commercially pure (CP) titanium grades. It offers a perfect balance of moderate strength, excellent corrosion resistance, and good formability and weldability. Compared to Grade 1, it has higher strength but slightly less ductility.

Common Product Forms-Grade 2 Titanium

Raw Material Forms

These are basic forms supplied to fabricators and OEMs:

1. Titanium Sheet & Plate

Thickness: 0.5 mm-50 mm

Used in tanks, cladding, heat exchanger shells, and pressure vessels

Standard: ASTM B265

2. Titanium Coil / Strip / Foil

For chemical lining, stamping parts, gaskets

Thin gauges available (down to 0.1 mm)

3. Titanium Rod & Bar

Round, square, hex bars available

For fasteners, machined parts, medical components

Standard: ASTM B348

4. Titanium Wire

For welding, medical applications, springs, or mesh

Supplied on spools or coils

5. Titanium Billets / Blocks

For forging or custom machining

Available in custom sizes

Semi-Finished & Fabricated Components

1. Titanium Tubes

Seamless Tubes: High-performance applications, condensers, heat exchangers

Welded Tubes: Less critical, cost-effective

Standards: ASTM B338 / B861 / B862

2. Titanium Pipes

For process piping in chemical plants, desalination, nuclear use

OD from 10 mm to 600 mm+

3. Titanium Pipe Fittings

Elbows, Tees, Reducers, Caps

For corrosive pipeline systems

Standard: ASTM B363

4. Titanium Flanges

Slip-on, Weld Neck, Blind, Socket Weld, Lap Joint

Custom drilling, ANSI/DIN/JIS standards

Standard: ASTM B381

5. Titanium Forgings

Rings, discs, blocks, or near-net shapes

Used in aerospace, pressure systems

Custom & Special Products

1. CNC Machined Components

High-precision titanium parts for medical, marine, or aerospace applications

2. Titanium Mesh / Perforated Sheet

For filtration, shielding, or electrolytic use

3. Titanium Anode Baskets & Hangers

Used in electroplating, surface treatment plants

4. Titanium Fasteners

Bolts, nuts, washers, threaded rods

For marine, chemical, and cleanroom environments

Applications of Grade 2 Titanium

Since its great strength-to-weight ratio, corrosion resistance, and formability, GR2 is widely used in:

1.Industrial

Heat exchangers, condensers, pressure vessels

Piping systems for chlorides, acids, seawater

Chemical reactors, evaporators, and tanks

2.Marine

Boat and offshore parts exposed to seawater

Desalination equipment (tubes, plates, flanges)

3.Medical & Pharma

Surgical instruments, implant base components

Autoclave-safe trays and sterilization equipment

4.Power & Energy

Cooling water systems in power plants

Nuclear plant tubing and structural parts (non-critical)

5.Others

Electroplating racks, anode baskets

Architectural use in decorative panels or structures

Standards

ASTM B265 – Titanium Sheets and Plates

ASTM B338 – Titanium Seamless/Welded Tubes

ASTM B348 – Titanium Bars and Rods

ASTM B363 – Titanium Pipe Fittings

Why Choose Grade 2 Titanium?

Stronger than GR1, still very ductile

Excellent corrosion resistance

Good cold formability

Excellent weldability

Ideal for long-term exposure to corrosive environments
